Hello everyone!! I hope you had a splendid and blessed Easter! Easter just feels like such a day for miracles to me. It always has. Its just like magic is in the air and anywhere you turn you can glimpse it's brilliance for just a split second.
While a lot of churches have a sunrise service on Easter Sunday, ours does not, and this was an alternate weekend for us, so we only had Sunday School. But still, we all bought new clothes and got all gussied up. This year I wasn't feeling "fancy" at all, especially since it was a "no-church" weekend, and considering that I, once again, have been super sick. At first I thought it was allergies, but then a round of a stomach something or other hit me and so I was down pretty much all last week. I still have a nasty rattling chest cough and am fighting a stuffy nose.
This ^ has been my life. I would not have made it without Robitussin.
So I bought my dress from Target a couple of weeks ago. Just a little striped fit and flare. It's super short so I feel like I have to do some modifications to it. Add some length at the bottom, you know. My hair didn't turn out as cute as I had intended... aaaand my purse totally photobombed this shot of me and Aaron. Oh well, at least the one of me and Mama looks cute! Right?? I was so happy that she came to Sunday School with us, because she usually skips that and just comes to regular church service with us.
Jeez, that purse. o.O Anad boy am I clutching my Bible.
I just love that dress on Mama! It was new for Easter. That little fly away sweater is too too cute.
We had a hoot watching our youngest nephew hunt for eggs. He's such a good looking little tooter bug. And we were beyond blessed that Aaron's 92 year old Mamaw got to be with us for the day. She took time out of the day to pull Aaron and I aside and really encourage us and give us a pep talk for our baby journey. That meant so much to us and by the time it was over I was sobbing. That talk will carry me through until the moment our baby is placed in my arms, I'll never forget it and will always be grateful for it.
Yesterday really made me take a step back and look at my in-laws. I have an older half brother, as ya'll probably know, and we live so far apart we hardly ever see each other with our schedules being so busy. And after my Dad and Uncle passed away I lost a lot of contact with that side of my family, and my cousins on my Mom's side all live so far apart that we only ever really get together on Thanksgiving and Christmas. But Aaron's family.... we do something together all the time. When I married Aaron, he gave me a family. Siblings, parents, grandparents, nieces and nephews.... I fully appreciated just what a lucky blessed girl I was to have such a great set of in laws.
After the egg hunt at church we went to my Sister in Law, Aimee's house for our simple Easter dinner. We have all been fighting whatever this mystery illness is and no one felt like cooking. So we got some gas station chicken (hello country!!) and chowed down. It's *the best* chicken ever. Don't even kid yourself.
I changed out of my super short dress, threw my hair up in a pony tail, and was all smiles headed out the door!
Aaron and the baby got into a mean game of Ninja Turtle vs. Spiderman after dessert. It makes my heart melt into a puddle seeing these two together.
After people started piddling out, my niece, Lauren, and I decided we wanted to do a little tie dye, so we made a frantic trip to the dollar store for shirts and spent the next couple of ours making a mess on the garage floor. I can't wait to show u my shirt! Be sure you follow me on Instagram (@ thesimplemissy) for all the latest!
And then once our tie dying was over, and once Aaron and our nephew had played a mean game of basketball, some of us trekked over to Aaron's Nana's house to visit with her and their mom, and got a surprise to see their Uncle there too! (He's taking the below group shot.) Nana had made chili and about 16 different desserts.... just in case any of us came over. So needless to say we all ate like crazy. I played with Lauren's hair while my own suffered, and we all told some crazy funny stories.
It was the best Easter ever.
Happy Easter everyone!
