Better Homes & Gardens vs. Scentsy

If you're like me, you LOOOVE to have your home smelling like fresh baked goodness at all times. And if you're like me you don't have fresh baked goodness at all times, so we have to rely on candles, which can add up no matter where you buy them, or you have to rely on wall plug ins, which have been known to cause house fires, so I refuse to have them in my home, unless its a BBW Wall Flower, and even those gets really stout smelling. Or the smell good cone deals....or the sprays....the list goes on and on.

Anyway the point here is.....are you one of those people that stalks the Scentsy parties and website wanting to buy one of their uber cute warmers, but can't justify dropping $35+ on one? You all know this blog is all about saving some $$$ and folks I have done it with this!!

When I was still working (currently betwixt employment) I  met a girl that quickly became one of my dearest friends (HI if ur reading this!!!). For my birthday in November, she bought me this little gem I am about to rave to you all about!

The above photo shows a "Better Homes and Gardens Wax Warmer," which is essentially the EXACT SAME THING as one of those expensive Scentsy warmers but for a much more reasonable price.... $15.00 to be exact. The little packets of wax are $2.00 a pack and all these wonderful items are available at your local Wal-Mart. They come in all kinds of shapes, sizes and colors to fit our varying tastes. And the smells.....the range of smells are amazeballs. Wild Berry, Chocolate Mint, Spices, Cupcakes, Clean Linen....just wander down the isle at Wal-Mart and smell for yourself. There are way too many to name.

The warmers work like a Scentsy warmer, but for those that don't know, they are light bulb operated. (Bulb is included.) The bulb sits down in the middle of the warmer and heats the tray on top. You pop the wax square out of the tray and plop it down in the tray. The heat from the bulb melts the wax and spreads the yummy smell out into your home. When you shut the warmer off at the end of the day the wax will harden and will wait until the next time you turn the warmer on.

The smell lasts about 3 days of all day use....I turn mine on around 2 or 3 in the afternoon and off around 10:30 at night, most of the time, so its a bummer that it has a short lifespan, but over all this product is TERRIFIC!!! If you're wanting a wax warmer, but can't afford Scentsy, which was my problem, then this is the way to go! I'm going to head back to Wal-Mart and get one for my kitchen, bathroom and bedroom!!

Go to www.walmart.com and type in "Better Homes and Gardens Wax Warmer" or browse the "Candles and Candle Holders" section or stop by your nearest Wal-Mart (they're in the home goods section near the back of the store) to have an up close look at them!

Happy Shopping, Happy Saving!!

  1. I have purchased 4 of these wax warmers from Wal-mart and after 3 months of regular use the hardware piece that the bulb screws into goes bad and I cannot turn the bulb on. I have only used the bulbs and replacement bulbs that are for that warmer. This, for me, is a huge strike against this product. This has happen to 3 of the 4 I purchased. I wonder if the scensy ones are more durable for the better price???

  2. Scentsy warmers ARE better quality. They also come with a LIFETIME replacement guarantee. That means no matter how long you have owned it, they will replace it for free, if it goes bad for any reason. And most Scentsy wax will last 24/7 for a week or more, depending on the scent you choose. I leave mine on 24/7 and only change my wax once a week.

    1. Wow! A week is a really great lifespan for the wax! Eventually I may purchase a Scentsy warmer, but for now, I'm really happy with my BH&G one! But, lets get totally honest here, you can never have too many. Am I right? ;)

  3. You most definitely cannot have too many warmers! :)
Scentsy has the most gorgeous warmers I've ever seen.
I think it's worth it to buy at least one that you love.
I've been wanting a BH&G warmer, but none really appeal to me.
I do love their wax though!

  4. I have to agree that Better Homes and Gardens wax performs better then Scentsy. Scentsy wax bars are weak and I have to use the entire bar to get it to last for the entire day. I watch many videos of people reviewing Scentsy and see how they mention how weak scents are. This morning I put Scentsy warm apple pie in my warmers (all eight cubes) and it’s very weak. So yes I would say Better Homes and Gardens make better wax!
